The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign began on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Here are three ways to take action against gender-based violence.
1. Orange your world
The campaign has proclaimed the 25th of each month as Orange Day, a day to raise awareness and take action to end violence against women. As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls. Orange Day calls upon activists, governments, and UN partners to wear the colour orange, mobilise people, raise awareness, and take action to prevent violence against women.
2. Take to social media
Join the global movement with the #NoExcuse campaign calling for urgent investments to prevent violence against women and girls.
3. Donate directly
UN Women’s Gaza Crisis Appeal is welcoming donations with UN Women condemning the attacks on civilians, loss of life and suffering in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
