Yarra Ranges Council is fully committed to securing approvals for the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination as quickly as possible to ensure the project can move forward.

Following the Environment Effects Statement (EES) process and the subsequent release of the Victorian Minister for Planning’s Assessment of the EES, there are several final approval processes that need to be completed prior to commencing trail construction.

While the approval process for trails continues, works have been completed at Wesburn Park, which will serve as the main trailhead for stage 1 of the project. This includes upgrades to the carpark and toilets, fencing upgrades (to help manage shared use of the park), as well as the installation of visitor furniture, bike repair stations, landscaping and tree protection works.

The track design for the Wesburn Park Pump Track is also currently being finalised.

Construction of the pump track is scheduled to commence in August once the winter weather passes and will be open to the public in the latter part of this year.

Council is confident that the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination Project will secure the required approvals and that they’ll be able to schedule a commencement date for trail construction soon.
