Santa sheds hair for a cause

It’s a very rare sight to see Santa getting his legs waxed, but this year the employees at Healesville BP petrol station helped one specific Santa to remove his leg hairs to help raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation.
Dressed in red and white Christmas attire, the team at the local BP service station in Healesville are regular contributors to the Make A Wish Foundation, and are accustomed to dressing up for a good cause.
Earlier this year, team members dressed up as minions to help gather donations, and are involved in the fund-raising as part of the Vantage Fuel organisation.
Vantage fuel is a family-owned company operating independent service stations throughout Victoria of which Healesville BP is one.
Each vantage fuel service station is heavily involved in fund-raising for the good cause, and this year as a fund-raiser prior to Christmas it was decided that employee Michael Pierrehumbert would wax his legs to help raise money for the cause.
Team member Belinda McGuiness layered on the smooth pure olive oil hot wax before pulling it off again with hairs attached, which Michael says was a tad painful.
“It hurt a bit, yeah, but it’s done for a good cause which is the main thing and hopefully the donations made will help fulfil some wishes,” he said.
Though, he jokes, the back of the legs did hurt a bit and he doubted he would be doing it again any time soon.
Some of the employees were volunteering their time helping set up the waxing station, which was put up swiftly next to the service station counter and then helped by shaking tins down along the main street.
As for Michael, his duties weren’t over once the waxing had finished. He also dressed up as Santa; although he donned Santa’s bushy beard, his legs were void of any hairs.
