Dakar stage four sees Chucky fall to fourth

Yarra Ranges rally-raid maestro Daniel “Chucky” Sanders has fallen to fifth place in stage four of the 2026 Dakar Rally.

The current World Rally-Raid Champion experienced a punctured tyre, throwing a spanner in the works as he attempts to regain lost ground in the marathon stage.

Leading the pack is Spaniard Tosha Schareina, who has had roaring success so far in this year – however, Sanders still remains in contention for the overall, trailing only by a minute and 24 seconds.

Sanders has started the marathon stage in a favourable position as starting behind other riders makes navigation easier for the Three Bridges local.

Overall, Sanders is in third place.
