Where are my rates going? Yarra Ranges Council minor works update for October 2025

When we, hard-working residents of the Yarra Ranges, pay our rates to the council, we sometimes might think: ‘Where exactly does my money go?’

The majority of the works the council completes are minor works, so it’s easy to overlook them, whereas the bigger, more expensive projects get a lot of attention.

In October, a number of minor works were completed by the Yarra Ranges Council – here’s a quick rundown of those in the Upper Yarra.

Yarra Centre Basketball Courts new backboards, scoreboards and curtains.

Landscaping improvement works took place at PJ Mould Reserve, Wandin North.

In Wandin, four endwalls on Victoria Road were reinstated.

Meanwhile, in Seville 1a Lanning Crescent’s drains were cleared with road camber realignment.

Hoddles Creek Cricket Club’s clubroom and public toilets received some lighting upgrades.

Some pesky potholes were fixed along Milners Road in Yarra Junction and Lusatia Park Road in Woori Yallock

And Yarra Junction’s Doon Reserve Caravan Park’s amenities block and camp had its laundry laundry floor replaced.

Footpaths along Blackwood Avenue in Warburton had some maintenance works take place.

While Parkinson Road in Launching Place had its embankment repaired from erosion repair plus an endwall installed.

Handrails along Scotchmans Creek Bridge in Warburton were repaired.

And the Swing Bridge in Warburton got a fresh coat of paint.

Finally, some embankment stabilisation works took place on Devon Street and Andersons Avenue in Warburton.
