Pools opening for summer

Community members can dive into the warmer months at Council’s outdoor pools, with the summer season getting underway.

From Monday 6 October, the heated Belgrave Outdoor Pool is open for its summer season. The Olinda Outdoor Pool will open from Saturday 6 December, followed by Healesville and Lilydale pools on Saturday 13 December.

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Jim Child, encouraged community members to meet with friends and family and take a dip.

“Swimming is a fantastic way to get active, to play, and to strengthen skills in the water – which can be crucial throughout our lives,” he said.

“We have some fantastic pools in the Yarra Ranges – from our indoor facilities servicing communities year-round, to our outdoor pools that thrive on hot summer days.

“Going to your local pool on a warm weekend day, or dropping in after school is an affordable way to have some fun and get active.

“Visit yarraranges.vic.gov.au/pool to check your local opening hours and see what events may be on as the season gets underway.”

Outdoor pools will remain open until March 2026.

Opening hours can be weather dependent. Information on opening hours, and the end of the season for each pool is published on Council’s website.

Pool funding a priority for 2026 State Election

Council is advocating to the State Government for funding to further develop the business case and begin planning and the design for an aquatics facility in the urban region, following the closure and demolition of the Kilsyth Centenary Pool.

Cr Child said that funding from other levels of Government could help make a new, state-of-the-art facility a reality.

“Aquatics facilities are some of the most expensive pieces of infrastructure that Councils manage, but they’re an incredibly high priority for our community,” he said.

“We also know that community members in our urban towns want a new facility to replace Kilsyth Pool, and can’t always travel to Croydon to use AquaHub.

“We’d love to see funding support from the State and Federal Governments so we can start planning a new facility, to both service the community in our urban region, but also to be a destination for all of our residents.

“We’ll be making the case to our State counterparts in the lead up to the 2026 State Election, in the hope of bipartisan funding support.”
