Strong winds to whip Victoria today

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for 15 September which includes the Yarra Ranges region.

Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are likely to develop during the late morning and afternoon.

Peak gusts about the alpine peaks may reach up to 110 km/h during tonight and Tuesday morning. Winds are expected to ease late Tuesday morning.

If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater.

Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.

Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline.
