The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather alert which warned of widespread damaging winds throughout the eastern ranges and across the state on Friday, 29 August.
Damaging northwesterly winds averaging 65 to 75 km/h with peak gusts around 110 km/h are likely to develop early this morning, before heading southwesterly on Saturday morning and easing by the afternoon.
Blizzard conditions are forecast for parts of the Eastern Ranges above 1200 metres.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11.00 am AEST Friday, 29 August.
