Educational walk and talk at Liwik Barring taking place in September



As part of the Birrarung Riverfest, the Transforming Haining Farm – Morning Gathering event is on 10 September, which offers an enriching educational experience about the important Liwik Barring Landscape Conservation Area.

Hosted by Parks Victoria, this educational walk and talk event led by a Parks Victoria ranger will showcase the importance of Liwik Barring Landscape Conservation Area, it’s the history and management and the latest release of the endangered Leadbeater Possum.

It goes from 10am to 12pm at Haining Farm, 2 Old Dalry Rd, Don Valley VIC 3139.

Experience two plots along the Birrarung where goats are present and one where goats are totally excluded to highlight pros and cons of different management approaches.

Children will have the opportunity to see the goats in action and ask questions.

Attendees are asked to prepare in advance as the closest public toilets are in Yarra Junction and limited drinking water will be provided so you’re recommend you bring your own water bottles.

The track is a flat gravel path and accessible to people in a wheelchair, however, may be muddy depending on the weather. The event hosts cannot guarantee wheelchair or pram accessibility and those who require extra support are encouraged to email carolyn.tate@yarrariver.org.au.

The event is hosted in collaboration with Melbourne Water and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
