Proposed Warburton Lodge plans to be assessed by council

A planning application to redevelop the Warburton Lodge has hit the Yarra Ranges Council.

The $2 million upgrade would be one of the lodge’s most significant since it was established in 1845.

It seeks to upgrade the motel’s offerings by demolishing the existing single-storey building in the eastern corner and replacing it with a new multi-storey eastern wing to the existing building in the southern corner.

The installation of illuminated business signage, reduction of the statutory car parking rate and the removal of vegetation are among the other aims of the planning application.

This application is in progress and the council are currently awaiting further information before it will approve or disapprove the application.
