Strong winds this Saturday, 26 July

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning for severe winds and blizzard conditions across Victoria for Saturday 26 July.

In the Yarra Ranges, damaging northerly winds are possible from late evening averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts of around 110 km/h and are expected to continue throughout Saturday morning.

Conditions are expected to ease in western and central areas by around sunrise, and over the Eastern Ranges during Saturday afternoon.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater if driving conditions are dangerous.

People should also avoid taking shelter near dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
