Do you find yourself wondering what your rates are funding in the Upper Yarra?
When we, hard working residents of the Yarra Ranges, pay our rates to the council, we sometimes might think: ‘Where exactly does my money go?’
The majority of the works the council completes are minor works, so it’s easy to overlook them, whereas the bigger, more expensive projects get a lot of attention.
Last month, a number of minor works were completed by the Yarra Ranges Council – here’s a quick rundown:
Erosion control works for table drains on Henry Street in Warburton were completed, improving safety and reducing damage caused by the recent rain.
Glenview Road in Launching Place had its drainage outlet cleared and erosion control works completed. Plus, there was a new sediment pit and rock beaching of the drainage outlet.
Carroll and James Streets in Millgrove had pit and pipe installation works completed.
Local clubs had their sportsfield ovals sliced and fertilised.
The Yarra Centre in Yarra Junction had its wheelchair access improved with new footpath modifications completed.
In Warburton, overgrown vegetation was cleared and footpaths were pressure washed, all the way from Brisbane Bridge to Ottrey Carpark.
Warburton Water World’s tennis court net was reinstated and the sand pit excavator was reinstalled.
The timber commando climber in Symes Road Playspace in Woori Yallock was oiled, freshening it up.
Heading a little further east, Link Road in Seville had its footpath maintenance works completed in front of the preschool, ensuring no kids have to deal with poor footpaths.
Wandin East Recreation Reserve also got some road maintenance works done.
