Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) and Country Fire Authority (CFA) has begun its Wesburn – Mineshaft Hill Track planned burn.

The burn is taking place 2km south east of Wesburn, roughly 200 metres south from the Wesburn Recreation Reserve and will be 122 hectares in size.

A section of Edwardstown Road will be closed until safe to reopen.

Weather conditions and fuel moisture levels were monitored and safety checks were carried out in preparation for the burn and conditions are suitable.

Road travel may be hazardous if smoke causes low visibility – road users driving along Warburton Highway through Wesburn should exercise extra caution if smoke causes visibility issues.

Crews in fire-fighting vehicles will be using local roads to access the burn area.
