The Regent parrots, rainbow lorikeets and gang-gang cockatoos at Healesville Sanctuary are feasting on kebabs made of their favourite spring fruits and vegetables.
Keepers spiked apple, corn, zucchini and the birds’ all-time favourite pumpkin onto sticks for them to enjoy high up in the trees.
Healesville Sanctuary bird keeper Sarah Carter said the spring treats are both mentally and physically stimulating for the colourful parrots.
“Parrots are incredibly curious and intelligent so picking at the kebabs that we place high up in the trees is an excellent way for them to enjoy their breakfast,” Ms Carter said.
