Socks on for the weekend everybody – winter is truly here.
Across the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges expect mostly cold and dry conditions, heading into some rain by Monday.
Up in Mt Dandenong, it will hit only a 10 degree maximum during the day with overnights heading back down to 5 °C.
A teeny bit warmer in the valley at Yarra Glen maximum temperatures will hit 13 °C and 14°C with partly cloudy conditions.
Despite the recent chill, the long-range forecasts for Australia and Victoria are likely to be warmer than average this season.
July to September days and nights are very likely to be warmer than average across Australia, with an increased chance of unusually warm days and nights.
For July to September, rainfall is likely to be above average for parts of the interior and eastern seaboard, and below average across much of Victoria and Tasmania, south-east SA, and parts of south-west WA.
Elsewhere, rainfall is likely to be more typical for the season.
