Participants in the Warburton Trail Fest event this weekend are to be advised that changes have been implemented to the program in response to the extreme weather predicted over the long weekend.
Event organisers are reassuring attendees that they are in constant communication with land managers and authorities (Parks Vic, DEECA and CFA) regarding the upcoming weather predicted across the State, always with safety in mind.
Localised conditions currently predicted for Warburton Valley are actually cooler and more favourable than for the rest of Central District. So conditions as advised are safe for operations on a modified course.
As advised, event organisers have made the decision to pull the Lumberjack 50km run off its regular course and operate a revised course that does not take it quite as remote (safety access and exposure considerations).
Lumberjack revised course will be a 43km approx run that stays in the Warburton Valley taking in the Donna Double course and then adding on the Redwoods Rush course with about 2,200m of climbing.
At this stage, event organisers intend to run the LumberJill and the rest of the Saturday lineup as per usual but starting about an hour earlier.
SUNDAY: same schedule as planned but an hour earlier
MONDAY: same schedule
