The Giro Della Donna event that was set to take place in Warburton this weekend has had until next year.
With chances for thunderstorms over Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November as well as high percentage chances of rain, conditions for the event would be unsuitable and unsafe.
In a post on the event’s Facebook page, organisers said they have been watching the steadily worsening weather forecast closely this week with sinking hearts.
“After consultation and consideration, and wanting to give as much notice as possible, we have concluded that rider safety and wellbeing would be compromised and that we have to postpone,” it reads.
“We know that this has many impacts on plans, travel and training for you all and want to apologise for the impact and inconvenience. We do not make the decision lightly.”
New dates for 23 and 24 November 2024 have been set, with purchased entries automatically rolling over to the 2024 event with no further action required.
For those who cannot make the 2024 dates, they can transfer to 2025 or request a full refund.
