Acheron Way, Donna Buang Road landslips being repaired next month

VicRoads has confirmed that repair works will get underway on Donna Buang Road on Acheron Way next month.

Heavy rainfall in late 2021 caused severe landslip damage at both sites; with one located on Donna Buang Road near the Acheron Way intersection, and another is located on Acheron Way near Road 4.

Donna Buang Road will be closed between Warburton Highway and Rainforest Gallery from Monday 2 October to Friday 13 October.

During this time, there will be no access to the Mt Donna Buang summit and Rainforest Gallery. Access to private properties will be maintained.

Crews will excavate the full width of the road and then rebuild and resurface both sides of the road.

Access to private properties will be maintained. There will be no public access beyond the last private property on Donna Buang Road travelling north.

Medium to high noise levels – we’ll work towards minimising noise as much as possible. Crews use modern equipment to reduce noise, however, the works will unavoidably emit some noise and light. For the safety of road users and workers on site, reversing beepers are a requirement on all machinery.

Increased movements of site vehicles, including trucks and machinery.

Donna Buang Road between Warburton Highway and Rainforest Gallery will reopen on Saturday 14 October, with repair works continuing.

Acheron Way between Rainforest Gallery and Road 15 will remain closed while repair works are undertaken. Once the repairs are completed, Acheron Way will reopen to traffic.

The landslip on Donna Buang Road between Mount Toolebewong and Mt Donna Buang summit is not set for repair as of yet, requiring significant work including road repairs, drainage and vegetation works before it can reopen.

Drivers will continue to have access to Mt Donna Buang via Warburton, except for when the road is fully closed for up to two weeks to repair the landslip on Donna Buang Road near Acheron Way.
