Documentary Launch at Warburton Arts Centre

An exciting film screening will be showing at the Warburton Arts Centre this weekend on Saturday 9 September.

Fellow Warburton filmmaker Larry Lawson and Belinda Loyd from Kind World Films are hosting a debut screening of TO THANK THE ROOM, about the last 100 days of Fitzroy, Melbourne’s Brooklyn Arts Hotel.

The filmmaker due carefully crafted this 77 minute documentary from 140 hours of footage shot during the Brooklyn Arts Hotel’s final 100 days, as a paean to a beloved institution and a remarkable woman.

Belinda Loyd said the film is a gentle and about loving and letting go.

“The documentary is about the last 100 days of Maggie Fooke’s Brooklyn Arts Hotel, formerly in downtown Fitzroy, Melbourne, which closed its doors on 11 March 2020,” she said.

“Sometimes you have to let go of what you love. And it’s ok.”

The film screening will begin at 3 pm, with a panel Q&A afterwards – which will offer patrons a chance to meet the filmmakers afterwards.

The film will be showing at Arts Centre, Warburton, 3409 Warburton Hwy, Warburton, 3799 and tickets are available via the Yarra Ranges Council Website.
