Rainbow trout restocked for school holidays

The Victorian Fisheries Authority has stocked “ready to catch” rainbow trout into lakes around Knox and the Yarra Ranges.

Fish storing is funded by the State Government’s Go Fishing Victoria plan fund and recreational fishing licence fees.

Don Lake (Healesville) has 400 stocked trout, Lillydale Lake (lilydale) has 1000, Ferntree Gully Quarry (Ferntree Gully) receiving 450 and Emerald Lake (Emerald) with 500 stocked trout.

Rainbow trout is a perfect fish for first time fishes as they are relatively easy to catch and take many forms of bait. This is a perfect activity for school holidays as they are readily available to catch.

Anglers are reminded that a daily bag limit of five trout applies, of which only two can exceed 35 centimetres.

The stocking program aims to get families fishing this school holiday.
