An aggravated home invasion occurred in Healesville on Wednesday 31 May that left a 47 year old male victim with serious injuries after they tried to defend themselves with a stick before offenders fled the scene.

Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit detectives are in the process of investigating and are appealing to the public for information following the incident.

Police have been told three unknown offenders broke into a home on Stephens Road at about 7.30pm.

It is understood offenders entered the home through the kitchen window and attacked the victim with edged weapons.

The victim attempted to defend himself with a stick before the offenders fled the scene on foot.

Nothing was stolen during the incident.

A spokesperson from Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to Healesville just before 8pm on 30 May and the man was treated for upper and lower body injuries and taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations remain ongoing and detectives confirmed on the morning of 31 May that they are keen to speak with anyone who has further information.
