UYSC school bus circumstances for Warburton Highway closure confirmed

Shuttle buses are set to be in place for school students during the Warburton Highway closure

Upper Yarra Secondary College students will be able to travel on their regular school bus, at their regular bus stop using the

current timetable, with the exception of students at the below stops:

The Hooks Road/Warburton Highway bus stop students are to board Martyrs Bus 17 at the

Millgrove CFA/Warburton Highway or Millgrove General Store/Warburton Highway at 8.28am.

The Scotchmans Creek Road/Warburton Highway bus stop students are to board their usual

service at the Alpine Retreat Hotel/Warburton Highway at 8.24am.

In the morning, school buses will take students from their normal (or amended) pick-up locations to the Warburton Football Ground, where under supervision by Bus Operator Kinetic’s staff, students will transfer to smaller shuttle buses that will travel to schools via Old Warburton Road, with the opposite in the afternoon.

The Warburton Football Ground will only be used as a changeover point for students transferring between smaller shuttle buses and their regular school buses. Students are not to be dropped off or collected at Warburton Football Ground. There will be no parent parking available.

Students travelling by bus services will arrive later at school, the school is aware of this and

will support students on their arrival.

All shuttle buses will be departing from the lower basketball court. One shuttle bus will be leaving the College at 3.15pm, where it will collect students from Wesburn Primary School. The remaining shuttle buses will depart at 3.18pm and all buses will travel together to Warburton Football Ground. Students will then transfer, under supervision by Kinetic Staff, to their regular school bus. It is expected that these trip variations may take approximately 40 minutes so please allow extra time for students to arrive home in the afternoon.

The school buses will depart from the Warburton Football Ground at approximately 4pm and students are not to be collected from the football ground, they must travel by bus to their normal bus stop location.

For students who wish to board the Martyrs 683, or students who have been allocated to the bus stop at the Millgrove CFA, it is recommended students do not ride their bikes to the Millgrove CFA bus stop. There is no bike storage or supervision at the Millgrove CFA.

The Department of Education recommends that if a student needs to remain home parents contact the relevant Team Leader at the College, and they will organise classwork to be provided. It is important to the College that students are not disadvantaged by the road closure. If your child requires any support to complete work or remain up to date, please encourage them to reach out for assistance.

There are also provisions for local primary schools:

Millwarra Primary School’s East Warburton campus students will catch their regular bus to school and will collected by a smaller shuttle bus, departing Millwarra Primary School at 3.25pm.

Students from Wesburn Primary School and St Joseph’s Primary School who live east of the landslip will be collected by their regular school bus and change to the smaller shuttle buses at the Warburton Football Ground with the College students.

In the afternoon, a smaller shuttle bus will collect students from Wesburn Primary School at 3.20pm. Students will be conveyed from St Joseph’s Primary School to the College as per their usual arrangements, where they will then board the smaller shuttle buses and be conveyed back to Warburton Football Ground, to access their regular school bus.

Public transport buses will also be impacted by the road closure. From Monday, April 24 the Route 683 service will offer a limited service from Warburton. Details will be available on the Public Transport Victoria website.

If you have further questions or require information about driving to and from school, the landslip repairs, the provision of the shuttle buses, or concerns with the services provided detailed above, please contact or refer to the below:
