Three Bridges resident Daniel Sanders has suffered a devastating blow in Stage Five of the 2023 Dakar Rally, with a bout of severe food poisoning the night before forcing him to take the latest ride easy.

Sanders, unfortunately, lost around 26 minutes due to the illness and now sits in eight overall.

Fellow Australian and Red Bull rider Toby Price moved up to second, chasing Skyler Howes who pinched the pole position off of Sanders.
