The Wandin Rotary Custom Car and Bike Show went extremely well on Wednesday 21 December, bar for a car crash that occurred outside the venue, the Wandin East Recreation Reserve.

Police are investigating after it appears the driver of a Holden sedan, travelling west after leaving the event, crashed into a tree on Parker Road at about 7.10pm.

The driver and sole occupant, a 69-year-old Bonnie Doon man, sustained injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

Ambulance Victoria was called to the accident at about 7.15pm and the man was transported to the Alfred Hospital, in a stable condition with upper body injuries.

The Wandin Fire Brigade, Silvan Fire Brigade and Seville Rural Fire Brigade all attended.

Captain of the Wandin Fire Brigade Darryn Goss said it was a busy day for them, having also attended an aircraft incident in Coldstream.

“We provided immediate first aid and made the scene before the paramedics and rescue team arrived, as we were attending the show and holding a barbeque fundraiser,” he said.

“It’s a busy period on the roads, so please obey the road rules, consider your consumption of alcohol and have a nominated driver and make sure you don’t drive fatigued or under the influence. Other than that, we wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.”
