One lane of the Warburton Highway between Warburton and Millgrove has been reopened with temporary traffic lights and speed reductions in place.
Warburton Highway between Hooks Rd and Scotchmans Creek Rd, Warburton was closed due to landslip and road damage.
Original plans were for the reopening on Wednesday 2 November but thanks to the work of crews, it was brought forward a day.
Motorists were diverted onto Old Warburton Road prior to the reopening, with the urgency of the situation increased by a CFA ‘Pumper’ truck slipping into a trench on the side of the road and after a crack developed at the Wesburn end of the Old Warburton Road.
It is anticipated that this arrangement will be in place for a couple of weeks while they finalise designs and mobilise crews to complete long-term repair works.
Motorists, delivery vehicles, buses and school buses are safe to use the single lane. Martyrs Bus Service announced their 683 route will return to running its usual service.
Motorists are advised to remain cautious of compromised road conditions following our recent floods and intense periods of rain.
