Hillcrest Fire Brigade are honouring firefighter Alan Cousins, who passed away recently.
For Wednesday 27 April, flags will be flown at half mast in tribute of Mr Cousins service.
Mr Cousins spent 24 years from 1998 to his passing in 2022 involved in the CFA, having held the roles of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Lieutenant and role of Treasurer since 2012 amongst many others.
He was heavily involved with all community efforts and activities run through the CFA, including community safety events, fundraising events, Santa runs with his authentic Santa-esque beard and the Good Friday Appeal which was always a Cousins family tradition. He also modernised the brigades IT systems and processes.
He was renowned for his ability and willingness to mentor new brigade members, sharing his knowledge and experiences and was held in high regard by his colleagues, with many great friendships, laughs and memories made throughout his life.
Mr Cousins was awarded the National Emergency Medal in 2013; National Medal in 2017 and 20 year CFA Service medal in 2019.
Mr Cousins was a keen cricketer, fisherman and traveller and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Thoughts and condolences are with his family during this time.
