Yarra Ranges Council will discuss special charges in their Tuesday 12 April meeting for residents of streets in Warburton who are set to have their roads sealed.
The residents of Alpine Street, Cecil Street and Glenbrook Road, Warburton; and Boronia Road, parts Sylvan Avenue and Unity Court, Warburton are those who will be affected, with the works coming under the nine-year $150 million Roads for the Community funding initiative for the Yarra Ranges Council to seal residential roads as part of the 2019-20 Federal Budget.
Residents were consulted in February 2021:
For residents of Alpine Street, Cecil Street and Glenbrook Road, Warburton:
• 28 (70%) of landowners responded to the survey.
Of those landowners who responded to the survey:
• 21 (75%) supported the proposed Special Charge Scheme
• 7 (25%) opposed the proposed Special Charge Scheme.
For residents of Boronia Road, parts Sylvan Avenue and Unity Court, Warburton:
• 19 (83%) of landowners responded to the survey.
Of those landowners who responded to the survey:
• 15 (79%) supported the proposed Special Charge Scheme
• 4 (21%) opposed the proposed Special Charge Scheme.
Due to the significant support, residents have been advised the Council would be going ahead with the Special Charges Scheme.
Residents of Alpine Street, Cecil Street and Glenbrook Road, Warburton face a total cost of $262,500 with $39,375 for separate financing costs, and residents of Boronia Road, parts Sylvan Avenue and Unity Court, Warburton face a $140,000 total cost with an additional $21,00 of financing costs.
Yarra Ranges Council provided a description of the works set to be undertaken:
Alpine Street, Cecil Street and Glenbrook Road, Warburton
• Approximately 760 metres of asphalt road 3.5 metres trafficable width following the
existing road formation
• Sealed passing bays to be located at intervals along the roads
• Concrete rollover kerb and channel on the high side, and associated underground
longitudinal drainage
• Reinstatement of vehicle crossovers.
Boronia Road, Parts Sylvan Avenue and Unity Court, Warburton
• Approximately 390 metres asphalt road 5 metres trafficable width following the
existing road formation
• Table drain reshaping and associated underground drainage
• Reinstatement of vehicle crossovers.
