The Yarra Ranges Downhill Festival 2022 was a huge success, with riders coming from near and far to tear down Mt Donna Buang on skateboards and luges.

The two-day event proved to be a substantial improvement over the 2020 edition and those prior, delivering a full track and full protection even in wet and wild conditions.

Four Yarra Ranges riders made it to the podium over all competitions:

Daniel Guzzardi awarded bronze in masters skate,

Zak Mills-Goodwin awarded gold in open skate,

Julian Slaney awarded silver in open street luge,

Ahria Everett awarded gold in women’s skate.

Posters and prize money are set to be distributed over the coming week.

Organisers are set to start working towards a new event with Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort and hoping to have something to deliver by the end of spring/start of summer.

The event was supported by a large group of generous sponsors:

Community Bank Warburton and Yarra Junction – Sponsorship of $3000

Yarra Ranges Council – Awarded grant of $10,000

Victorian Skateboard Association – Awarded grant of $5000

88 Wheel Co – Provided prizes for Women’s skate & masters.

Matilda Bay Brewery- Who sponsored the event with a whole free keg of beer.

Alpine Retreat Hotel – Who gave us a space for tech inspection, riders meeting and a space to get together each evening.

Burnley Brewing – For providing the event staff with tons of free beers and being a great place to work.
