Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) will be carrying out a planned burn-off today in Reefton along Leith Road and Warburton along Woods Point Road.
Smoke may be visible in the area as crews undertake the 6.2 hectares fuel reduction burn between 10am and 8pm. FFMV crews will be patrolling over the following few days.
Victoria is one of the most fire-prone areas of the world. Planned burning is a key part of managing the risk of bushfires in our landscape and can help slowdown the spread of a fire before it reaches communities.
FFMV advises that planned burns can only be carried out when mild and stable weather conditions allow the burn to be managed safely.
As there are limited opportunity to carry out planned burns during spring, crews will be taking advantage of the desirable conditions tomorrow to reduce fuel loads.
