If you’re heading through Seville along the Warburton Highway anytime soon you may notice a new sign recognising the town as the childhood home of Victoria Cross (VC) recipient George Ingram.
Mount Evelyn RSL member Kim Parry was responsible for the work put into the sign and was inspired after seeing similar signs honouring VC recipients across Victoria.
The sign was created to have the same colour of the ribbon of the Victoria Cross.
The new sign comes a month after the unveiling of the first panel of the Seville War Memorial, which honours Ingram.
The Seville War Memorial Committee raised $110,000 to construct the foundation and framework of the memorial and to put the first glass panel in place.
When completed, the memorial is designed to carry four panels to honour Seville residents who served for Australia.
Casey MP Tony Smith announced $75,000 in funding to complete the remaining three panels of the war memorial.
