Offering a kaleidoscope of activities, performers, healers and beautiful food, Ecotopia 2019 has again drawn hundreds of happy people from throughout the Yarra Valley and beyond.
Ecotopia Coordinator, Chelsea McNab said this years event is the biggest one so far. “It’s fantastic, everything looks really well attended and the whole festival is really vibrant and alive,” she said.
With a program of 16 events and a healing space offering massages, tarot readings and intuitive heart healing there was certainly something for everyone, no matter what the age or inclination.
Asked about the festivals success, Chelsea said its main attraction is that there are so many community groups involved and most of the things to do are free.
“I think involving people and showcasing not for profits in an affordable way makes it really accessible to families,” she said. “There is so much for kids to get involved in with lots of workshops and giveaways.”
A big attraction was the huge inflatable whale, the star attraction of ‘The Whales Tale, a theatre piece put together to highlight the damage done to the environment by plastics in our waterways.
Other big hits were The Dreaming Space Circus, the didgeridoo workshop and The Valley’s Got Talent performances.
“Thanks to our sponsors, it has been great to be able to offer all that for free and all the multicultural performances bring so much colour and vibrancy to the day,” Chelsea added.
While this years event is barely over, planning for next year is already well underway and the rumour is it will be a 1920s theme, with all of Yarra Junction expected to dress up accordingly for the day.
