There are two small bushfires burning in the Black Range State Forest, 10 kilometres south-west of Buxton.
The CFA has issued an advice message from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) for Buxton, Narbethong and St Fillans.
It said smoke would be visible from the Maroondah Highway, and from Buxton and Narbethong, but there was no threat to residents.
The message advised people in the affected areas to stay informed and monitor conditions.
Firefighters are responding to both fires and bulldozers and aircraft might be operating in the area.
