The bushfire near Marysville is now safe.

The Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) declared the blaze 3 kilometres south south-east of Marysville safe just before 6pm on Saturday 26 January.

“People located within the warning area are now able to resume normal activities,” the message said.

The most recent update on the fires burning in the Upper Yarra Catchment came about 3pm.

There are five bushfires caused by lightning strikes.

Residents in the Mcmahons Creek, Reefton, Upper Yarra Dam and Shaw areas are advised to monitor conditions.

DELWP said smoke might be visible in the surrounding areas but there was no threat to community.
