The Warburton Golf Club competitors had another tough day for scoring on Wednesday 12 September.
Kevin Conway headed the field with a creditable +1.
Steuart Hawke is the Mr Consistent of the regular Wednesday crew.
He snared another runners-up prize by ‘squaring’ with his handicap.
Balls went down to -2.
There were only two nearest the pin winners – John Robinson on the ninth and Ossie McClay on the 10th.
A match was played on the day; a semi-final to see who would continue onto the final of The Harry-Martyr next month.
Tex Van Der Kooi defeated Ken Barratt, 4 and 3.
Tex will now play his good friend, Neil Leckerby, so the sparks are likely to fly on that day.
On Saturday 15 September, only a small-ish field played in the club’s stableford competition so there was only one winner – Simon Spenceley, with an impressive 40 points.
Nipping at his heels was Junior Kempton, with 39.
Those who scored 29+ can collect a ball the next time they are in the clubhouse – 29 is very low for a ball rundown, indicating that the course is clearly winning at this stage of early spring.
Nearest the pin balls went to Happy on the third, Junior Kempton on the fifth, Lance Atwell on the ninth, and the inspirational Meredith Nursey on the 15th.
