ANZAC Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions and the residents at Holmwood Aged Care recently marked the Anzac Centenary in style.
The team at Holmwood Aged Care revel in making each day for the residents just that little bit extra special, so when two horses from the acclaimed Gallipoli series visited, they knew they were onto a winner.
The event was kindly donated by Le Pine funerals here in Healesville.
Having been part of the community for nearly 40 years, Holmwood Aged Care has a proud history of providing a renowned level of service to their residents, while maintaining their focus on great accommodation and exceptional care.
While the team puts a lot of effort into their social activities program, they were especially proud of securing this opportunity for residents.
After all, there’s a reason Holmwood Aged Care is known for being a home away from home.
Gallipoli, the seven-part Australian TV mini-series, was telecast on the Nine Network this year and also marked the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign.
The visit gave residents the opportunity to interact with the famous horses and help to make the residents really feel at home.
After all, there’s no better mix than a couple of horses and Holmwood Aged Care’s semi-rural setting located in the Healesville township.
Of course, this occasion brought back many memories for certain residents who have strong ties to The Gallipoli Campaign that took place from 1915 to 1916.
One of whom is Alma Hunter, who’s knitting 100 red poppies to pay her respects to the brave soldiers who fought in Gallipoli.
Ms Hunter’s dedication to her knitting has been spurred on and encouraged by Holmwood’s regular activity sessions that include arts and crafts on a regular basis.
