WARBURTON-born international star Diana Trask will be returning to her hometown for a special, once-off performance this Sunday, where she’ll sing the hits that launched her to stardom.
Trask will be performing at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre from 2pm on Sunday 15 September at the Arts Centre, to begin her 2013 Australian tour.
Trask, who was born in 1940, was an international star in the 1960s and 1970s and performed with Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and Roy Clark and wrote a number of hits in the popular and country music genres.
She said that she was looking forward to the Warburton show and reliving her memories of the town.
“It’s a very strange sort of feeling, but I feel as if it’s in the right place at the right time,” she said.
“It will be wonderful to see all the Warburtonites – I will be so thrilled to be with my people again,” she said.
“I have come to Australia many times, performed in many places – people sitting on dirt, backs of trucks and everywhere has had a mighty response.”
Trask said her first dance was at the age of five in the mechanics hall adjoining the arts centre and that she recalls seeing movies at the centre when she was about eight years old.
“I’ll be very happy to be in my home town,” she said.
Comedian Reg Gorman of The Sullivans and Adam Hills Tonight will be performing alongside Trask at the show.
She will be singing her classic songs, as well as songs from her latest album Daughter of Australia.
Tickets to the Diana Trask concert are $38 for adults, $35 for concession holders and $30 for groups of more than 10 people.
