AN EXHIBITION featuring the works of 20 local artists tackles the vexed question of logging of native forests.
Forests Exposed presented by Warburton Environment, opened on Saturday at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in Warburton.
President of Warburton Environment Karina Doughty said the exhibition, through photography, painting, sculpture and the written word, confronts the viewer with questions around the effects of clearfell logging in Central Highlands and the ecological role of cool temperate rainforests in terms of fire.
“We are living with the onset of climate change, rapid species extinction and the dwindling of our precious natural resources,” Ms Doughty said.
“It’s time to ask ourselves what value do we place on our local forests and what is our vision for the future,” she said.
A number of workshops are planned in conjunction with the exhibition as well as a free interactive art activity on 28 July.
