Fence aid stepped up

THE State Government has stepped up to repair or cover the cost of restoring fences that were destroyed or damaged by heavy machinery during fire suppression activities.
People who own land and fencing that was damaged during February’s fire suppression works are being encouraged to register with the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667 as soon as possible.
The government is also paying for the repair of fire control lines created as part of bushfire suppression activities.
There are varying scales of reimbursement with eligibility covering a range of situations from Crown land boundary fences to private land where fences have been destroyed or damaged as a result of machinery used in the control of bushfires by fire suppression agencies – including damage to fences to enable access by emergency vehicles.
For details on fence replacement or control line rehabilitation, go to www.dse. vic.gov.au.
