EMERALD Football Club attracted its biggest ever crowd on the weekend for the most anticipated rematch of the season.
Emerald took on Kinglake at home with the Bombers hoping to take the honours after going down to Kinglake in their first meeting.
However, despite more than 1,000 spectators turning out for the match, the Bombers couldn’t secure a win, going down by 40 points.
Emerald’s football manager Graham Steer said the day was the biggest the club had experienced.
Steer said it was a great game as both club were fierce on-field rivals.
He said it proved to be a hard-fought contest but in the end Kinglake was too strong.
“It was a two-goal margin most of the game but in the last Kinglake kicked away,” Steer said.
Following the game a band was set up and both teams celebrated the game.
