Visit Yellingbo Nature Conservation Area and have fun with like-minded people as you plant habitat for Victoria’s critically endangered faunal emblems at this Birarrung Riverfest event.
Hosted by Wildlife Carers for Protection of Habitat and Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater, the event takes place at Burrungma Biik, north of Yellingbo Nursery, on 9 September, from 10am to 2pm.
Contribute to the survival of the Helmeted Honeyeater and the Lowland Leadbeater Possum through planting trees, while learning about the state faunal emblems, the special plants and animals that live together to create this unique environment.
There will also be art and craft activities for children, who must be accompanied by an adult.
Yellingbo Nature Conservation Area is part of the Liwik Barring Landscape and is located in the Woori Yallock Creek sub catchment of the Yarra River. Driving is the best option.
Attendees should wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather, be sun-smart and bring their own gardening gloves, alongside a filled water bottle and lunch/snacks as there are no local lunch options.
Those with mobility limitations should contact carolyn.tate@yarrariver.org.au for support, as the reserve’s terrain is uneven and may pose accessibility issues.
