Yarra Valley Water Might Need a Pipe Check



A new study has ranked Yarra Valley Water second last out of Victoria’s water utility providers.

Published on 17 June by All Kind Gas And Plumbing, the study ranked the water utilities on five key factors, which were:

Average annual residential water supplied, typical annual bill, average duration of unplanned interruption, water main breaks, bursts and leaks per 100 kilometres and sewer main breaks and chokes per 100 kilometres.

Yarra Valley Water ranked 14th in water main breaks, bursts and leaks and 13th in sewerage breaks and chokes, eighth in annual water supply and eighth in duration of unplanned interruptions.

It performed slightly better in pricing coming in at fifth for that factor.

Yarra Valley Water ranked 14 out of 15 on the list.

Goulburn Valley Water have scored first overall, which supplies to the New South Wales border, with them having the cheapest yearly prices, and lowest breaks, bursts and leaks per 100 kilometres.

Lower Murray water ranks third overall, with its covered cities of Mildura, Swan Hill, Robinvale and Red Cliffs getting the highest residential water supply, with 455 kilolitres per year.

East Gippsland Water has the best score for sewerage errors, with just 3.1 per 100 kilometres.

Gippsland Water has the shortest average unplanned interruptions, with just 63.3 minutes.
