Dog owners reminded to scoop the poop

The Yarra Ranges Council reminded residents to pick up after their dogs in a Facebook post on 28 June.

“If you’re heading out for a dog walk, please don’t forget your waste bags,” the post read.

“Leaving dog poo behind is more than just crappy behaviour – it’s unpleasant, it’s harmful to our parks, paths, and waterways, and it’s against the law.”

The council warned dog waste poses health risks to both people and pets.

It advised dog owners to carry bags every time they go for a walk.

There isn’t always a bin close by (especially in our more remote areas), so people must hold onto their bag until they can pop it in a bin.
