Do you find yourself wondering what your rates are funding in the Upper Yarra?
When we, hard working residents of the Yarra Ranges, pay our rates to the council, we sometimes might think: ‘Where exactly does my money go?’
The majority of the works the council completes are minor works, so it’s easy to overlook them, whereas the bigger, more expensive projects get a lot of attention.
Last month, a number of minor works were completed by the Yarra Ranges Council – here’s a quick rundown:
Sportsfields across the Upper Yarra had their seasonal changeovers finalised with Autumn well and truly underway.
In Woori Yallock, maintenance work was completed at the Symes Road Playspace, while Main Street in Yarra Junction had its streetscape garden bed planted.
Meanwhile, Glenview Road in Launching Place had drainage works to prevent further erosion, with specific additional works at 300 Glenview Road to prevent sediment accumulation.
Maintenance works on Wesburn Playspace’s timber uprights were completed and the Wylie Street track got some upgrades.
James Street Millgrove had pit and pipe installations performed and the Warburton Preschool had its floors replaced.
And finally, the garden beds at Wandin North Recreation Reserve were mulched.
