Truck driver released on bail after fatal Coldstream collision



Emergency services were called to Maroondah Highway on Boxing Day where a car and truck collided at about 1.15pm.

One of the passengers in the car, a 62-year-old woman from Tranmere in South Australia, sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 63-year-old Essendon man, was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Another passenger in the car, a 62-year-old South Australian man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver, a 42-year-old Frankston man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.

He was charged with dangerous driving causing death and appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 29 December 2023.

As reported by the Herald Sun, the man was released on bail and will face the County Court of Victoria this year.
