A notoriously flood-stricken road in Yarra Junction is underwater again following heavy rainfall on Tuesday 3 October.

Yarra Ranges Council have confirmed that Settlement Road, Yarra Junction is closed between Lowes Road and Corduroy Road due to flooding.

As a result, Corduroy Road is also closed with motorists advised to make time to take alternate routes. Motorists are advised not to to attempt to drive through floodwaters.

The same area was flooded and closed after the October 2022 floods.

Corduroy Road and Settlement Road provide a shortcut through to Wesburn, bypassing the Yarra Junction township as well as providing access to the Upper Yarra RSL.

A minor flood warning remains issued for almost all of the Yarra Ranges.

Yarra River catchment has recorded rainfall averaging about 52 mm in the upper part of the catchment and about 24 mm in the lower part of the catchment since 9am Monday 02 October.

The level of the Yarra River at Coldstream is currently at 1.59 metres, below the Minor Flood Level. It is expected to peak above the Minor Flood Level ( four metres) on Thursday afternoon (5 October 2023).
