The Powelltown Union Church will soon be hosting regular church services for residents.
Millgrove Baptist will be commencing monthly services in Powelltown Union Church beginning on Friday 14 July.
Senior Pastor Ray McDonald said the service will include a community meal and service, followed by a cup of tea.
“We’ve had it on our hearts for a long time to do something out there,” he said.
“Something low key will hopefully work very well.”
Paster McDonald said that with the changes around the sawmill, he thinks a service could be helpful.
“We’ve talked about the possibility of also opening the church occasionally for residents to come and use the space for meditation and prayer,” he said.
Powelltown Union Church was originally built in 1927, and has high local significance as one of the few Union Churches remaining in Victoria.
Paster McDonald said that the Millgrove Baptist Church has a regular patron who comes to Millgrove from Powelltown regularly and they would like to support her.
“There’s a team of us involved and we will have speakers on the night as well,” he said.
The monthly service will commence on the second Friday of each month, beginning Friday 14 July.
A meal will be served at 6pm, followed by the 7 pm service.
