Burn off gets caught by wind in Hoddles Creek

Hoddles Creek and Yellingbo CFAs attended a scrub fire on Wednesday 24 May at 4.25 pm at Lewis Road, Hoddles Creek.

It was a windy afternoon and the property owner lost control of the burn which spread to trees and brush.

Yellingbo CFA urged residents to always remember that if it is windy above 10km hr please do not start a burnoff. Even though it is damp and not so warm in the air, leaves and debris can still catch fire from the amount of wind contributing to the burn, causing sparks and embers to conceal in trees and long grass.
