VicRoads have provided an update on the status of the works to repair the landslip on Monbulk-Seville Road Wandin east.
They have completed works to remove 18 trees that became unstable due to the landslip, working with an ecologist and fauna specialist to ensure the safety of wildlife during works.
They will continue to monitor the site for safety and undertake geotechnical assessments to confirm ground stability, with construction expected to start in the coming months after design works are complete to repair the landslip.
The next steps involve working with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Yarra Ranges Council, State Emergency Services and Victoria Police to monitor the situation and keep the community safe whilst the area is stabilised.
Due to the complexity of the landslip, VicRoads anticipate the road will remain closed until the site stabilises and they’ve carried out further technical investigations into the construction methodology, works staging and mobilised crews to repair the damage.
