The Victorian Government’s announcement of new recycled picnic tables as part of the $21 million Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program is set to benefit Maroondah Reservoir Park in Healesville.

The tables are made from recycled plastic and will save 5.67 tonnes of household and industrial plastic waste from going into landfill – helping Victoria reach its target of diverting 80 percent of waste from landfill by 2030.

Minister for Energy, Environment, and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio today announced that 17 parks across the state, including Maroondah Reservoir Park, will receive the tables.

“The use of recycled plastic in this project is the perfect example of resource recovery that is protecting the environment,” she said.

“The Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program is making a big difference to green spaces in our suburbs and is an example of the Labor Government’s strong record of support for growing communities across Melbourne.”

Between 2021–2023, visitor facilities at Maroondah Reservoir Park such as picnic shelters and tables, toilets, carparks, BBQs, playground equipment, signage, pathways, and trails will be upgraded or replaced.

They also aim to improve access for people with limited mobility. Construction works are set to start in winter this year, with an eye to completion about the same time in 2023.
