One-day matches for Cup weekend

FOR THE first time in many seasons the YVCA had a fixture with one-day matches over the Cup Weekend.
In the D.J. Strachan Shield Warburton-Millgrove travelled to Woori Yallock and batted first for 8/159 – Liam Barnard 81 leading the way. The Tigers’ bowling was headed by captain Michael King with 3/19, assisted by Andrew Sharp also with three wickets for the cost of 38 runs. Woori Yallock reached the target with only one wicket to spare at 9/161. Greg Selby 42 not out and Tim Diggins 49 were the main run makers while/Warburton Daniel Hagger with 4/47 was the best of the bowlers assisted by Luke Darwell 3/28.
At home Coldstream were dismissed cheaply. When the 10th wicket fell the score was only 67 with Nathan Fall 4/14 and Beau Hawkins 3/17 doing the damage. In their extended innings Yarra Junction reached 5/338cc Stephen Flutter 99, one short of a century, but David Lever getting there with 127.
Silvan reached 8/167 in its alloted innings with Luke Painter 36 and Clint Sharman 35 among the runs, while for home side Mt Evelyn Aaron Booth took 3/24. Mt Evelyn were in some trouble in the initial run chase but fought back well to finally score 225 for the loss of eight wickets – Luke Jones 61, Ben Thiele 35/Silvan Crowhurst taking four wickets and Mark Appleby two for Silvan.
Seville hosted Hoddles Creek for the first time in many seasons in the top YVCA grade. Batting first the home team reached 9/149cc. Leigh Aitkins 73 batted well to lead the way while Jeff Crew took 3/21. Following the tea adjournment Hoddles Creek took to the crease intent on chasing down the score. At the end of the 40 overs they had done just that with Brenton Derix with a fine undefeated 72 the main man in a score of 5/156. For Seville David Wallace took 2/31.
Gruyere-Districts travelled to the Wickhams Road home ground of Launching Place United and batted first to place 166 on the board for the loss of 7 wickets – Matt Tilney 59 Chirs Foster 33 while Hayden Atkinson and Hugh Wadsworth took two wickets each when their turn came to take willow to leather. Launching Place reached 8/179cc lead by Tyson Wheeler 38, Cameron Hoare 34, Stuart Parker 26. Matt Tilney also did well with the ball taking 3/13.
In a low-scoring match at Healesville Wandin were all out for 105 in 35 overs – Wayne Ross 25, Ben Slater 4/28, Dan Rogers 3/30, Darren Edwards 2/5 were the Healesville bowlers who did the damage. Healesville just able to pass that score of 105 being dismissed for 120, Scott James 31, Ben Slater 18, Grayling 3/26 and Jess Wright 3/32.
In the R.A. Finger Trophy round Warburton Millgrove with 9/149cc – Kelly 41, Clinch 22 and Hajder 2/46 lost to Woori Yallock 4/213 – Michael Dwyer 102 n.o., Damien Ryan 4/45.
Seville recovered form 8/40 to reached 9/108cc – Andrew McInerny 40 n/o and Jon Wood 5/30 lost to Yarra Glen 8/208cc – Luke Merret 57, Jamie Holland 56 and Lucky Juwan 3/31.
Yarra Junction 8/164cc – Edward Buckley 44, Chris Fall 42, Steve Farr 29 n/o, J Bourke 3/3. Ian Hawkey 2/32 defeated Mt Evelyn 107, M Darvell 22, Ian Hawkey 20, J Fall 3/35, Chris Fall 3/28 and Stuart Thompson 3/14.
Wandin hosted Healesville and reached 6/200cc with Sean Black getting 113. Healesville batted and were all out for 93 – James Shambrook 28, Steven McIntyre 3/22, Jarod Rowe 3/27 doing the damage for the home side.
